The directive came into effect in July 2006 and was amended in 2011 and 2015. Although the RoHS directive, commonly known as the “Lead-free directive,”actually limits the use of many sances, lead (PB) below 1000 PPM mercury (Hg) below 100 ppm cadmium (CD) below 100 PPM CR (VI) below 1000 PPM PBB below 1000 PPM PBDE below 1000 PPM BIS (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate below 1000 PPM Butylbenzyl phthalate below 1000 PPM diisobutyl phthalate below 1000 PPM information on REACH and its safe use in European Community (EC 19072006). It involves the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical sances.

The new law came into force on June 1,2007. The goal of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment by better and earlier identification of the Intrinsic Properties of chemicals. The benefits of REACH will become apparent as more and more sances are incorporated into REACH in stages.
